Nona Ballet is proud to present The Nutcracker, the timeless holiday ballet set to the enchanting music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. This beloved Christmas classic follows young Clara on a magical journey through the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets, where she encounters dazzling dances, unforgettable characters, and the wonder of the holiday season.

At Nona Ballet, this production is approached as an extension of training. Students work toward a fully staged performance while continuing their regular technical development, gaining valuable experience in classical repertoire, musicality, stage presence, and rehearsal discipline as an essential part of their ballet education.

PREPARATORY DIVISION
Preparatory students under the age of 7 don't need to audition and must be enrolled at the time that rehearsals start to participate.

ACADEMY DIVISION
Academy students audition for role placement.
All enrolled Nona Ballet students will participate in the Nutcracker.

ACADEMY DIVISION
Dedicated dancers from other ballet schools are welcome to audition for The Nutcracker. Guest students audition alongside Nona Ballet students and, if cast, rehearse and perform under the artistic direction of the Nona Ballet faculty. Participation offers the opportunity to perform in a fully staged classical ballet while gaining valuable rehearsal and stage experience.

AUDITION FEE
A non-refundable $25 audition fee is required for students who are not currently enrolled at Nona Ballet. The audition fee is waived for all currently enrolled Nona Ballet students.

PARTICIPATION FEE
Once cast, a Production Participation Fee will be due for all participating students. This fee helps support rehearsals, coaching, theater production expenses, and other costs associated with bringing The Nutcracker to the stage. The fee also includes the official Nona Ballet Nutcracker T-shirt, access to the production's digital photo gallery, and a digital video recording of the performances.

Additional details regarding the production participation fee will be shared with participating families following auditions.

Students enrolled in our Recreational and Daytime Ballet program may be eligible to participate in The Nutcracker.
Participation requires payment of the production participation fee.

Application of the participation fee toward tuition applies only if the student enrolls in a Academy program division.

  • Auditions are used for casting and role placement.

  • All casting decisions are made at the discretion of the Artistic Directors.

  • Participation in The Nutcracker requires a commitment to the rehearsal schedule. Students who are unable to attend required weekend rehearsals will not be eligible to participate in the production.

  • Students are expected to attend all scheduled rehearsals. Excessive absences may result in reassignment of roles or removal from the production.

  • Additional production information, including rehearsal schedules, performance dates, costume information, participation fees, and parent expectations will be shared with participating families following auditions.
